Times in brackets are guidelines for time spent at homework. Different children will complete the same homework in different lengths of time.  Time spent will vary from day to day and also from the beginning to the end of the school year.  It is important to remember that it is the quality and not the quantity of homework that matters.  If a child frequently spends longer than the recommended time at homework parents should inform the class teacher.

Parents are also asked to clarify any general matter regarding homework with the teacher at the beginning of the year.

Children in Ranganna 2 and above are usually prescribed a chapter/story/piece of writing on Monday as reading homework for the week. It does not have to be read in full each night but read in stages from Monday to Thursday. Additional small reading books are given in Ranganna 1,2,3. Again there is no need to read one in full each night, let the child read it for pleasure over a few nights and sign and return when finished.
