Homework

Times in brackets are guidelines for time spent at homework. Different children will complete the same homework in different lengths of time.  Time spent will vary from day to day and also from the beginning to the end of the school year.  It is important to remember that it is the quality and not the quantity of homework that matters.  If a child frequently spends longer than the recommended time at homework parents should inform the class teacher.

Parents are also asked to clarify any general matter regarding homework with the teacher at the beginning of the year.

Don’t spoil all your evenings for the sake of a phone call!

Béarla/Gaeilge writing Tuesday, Wednesday and every second Thursday.

Chapter/material to learn/study every second Thursday.

Rang 4: (30 mins.)

Spelling and Mata every night.

Monday is Tables night.

Irish Reading and brief written exercise on Thursday

Béarla/Gaeilge writing Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rang 3: (25 mins.)

Spelling, tables and Mata every night.

English & Irish reading

Béarla/Gaeilge/OSIE writing Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Rang 2 agus Rang 1: (20 mins.)

Spelling, tables and Mata every night.

English & Irish reading

Béarla/Gaeilge/OSIE writing Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Naí. Mhóra: (15 mins.)

Reading and Penmanship every night.

Handwriting exercises every night.

Reading after Halloween.

Children in Ranganna 2 and above are usually prescribed a chapter/story/piece of writing on Monday as reading homework for the week. It does not have to be read in full each night but read in stages from Monday to Thursday. Additional small reading books may be given in Ranganna 1,2,3. Again there is no need to read one in full each night, let the child read it for pleasure over a few nights and sign and return when finished.

Club Obair Bhaile:

The school offers a supervised homework club for children from Naí Mhóra to Rang 6;

Rogha 1: Club Obair Bhaile / Homework club: 2:45 in – 3:45 in Luan, Máirt, Céadaoin, Deardaoin.

 Rogha 2: Cúram Iarscoile / After school care: 3:45 in – 5:15 in do Naí Mhóra go Rang 6.
